Hi James,
You've had lotsa good advice already. When you do get to alignment,
basically just follow the manual. Do find the freq. of the xtal filter
and use that for your IF alignment.
But first, figure out about this AM signal, is it really there, about
where the dial says, or not. Is that the only problem? Do the bands
all hear signals? Do some checking before you jump into alignment, or
you may be wasting your time.

The radio works I hear AM radio but it is in the wrong band, I have know history of the radio, when I received the unit it did not receive, you Gus help me find the problem, I have checked tube voltages and everything seams to be in reasonable order. Am I ready to align or do I need to go back in to the receiver.
