[Hammarlund] HQ 170 S Meter Discoloration

Just in case, the early HQ170's used an amber meter scale similar to that 
used on Johnson Ranger I's.

The S Meter scale on my HQ170 is discolored.  This seems to be a fairly 
common problem.  Are replacement scales or meters available?  Is there a 
safe way to remove the yellow discoloration without damaging the numbers and 
markings?
