It has 6 of the truly excellent Telefunken mechanical filters. Audio is excellent as is control feel. But for operational fun I really enjoy my Comet Pro. For CW operation the WWII era RAL regen is a great choice. Next year I will probably have decided upon a new ultimate :)

Gosh,

I have SS digital receiver with only 24 memories. I only ever use two
and that's when I'm using to align a VFO in another radio! If I use more
than two I can't really remember which one is for what and so I have to
write them on a paper list. If I'm using a paper list I can just as easy
punch it in with the keypad or dial it in with the big honking tuning
knob (aka encoder).

I had some years with a Hammarlund HQ-145X and I got really good service
from that. Wish I hadn't sold it. But for boat anchors (real boat
anchors) that's the only one I really have any experience and nothing to
compare. At the moment the ARC-5 command receivers are giving me a lot
of fun. I think those qualify as boat anchors. And oh yes...the RAK-7.

If years define a boat anchor (how many) then my early 70s Kenwood R-599
is doing a good job for me. And how about my 30 year old (+) Ten Tec?

Probably they're all good. The best one is one that you have and can
use! None of mine will make the hall of fame but I'm having my fun.
