It sounds like you have little or no experience doing this type of work. Not a problem-everybody has to start somewhere.However-The SP-600 is a "major" radio, and a well restored one has considerable value. I would suggest that you first start out with a more "disposable" radio, such as an AA-5, or some set that will not be a big deal if you destroy it. Get your skills up to a good level before you open up the "big guy".
The SP-600 presents several "advanced" challenges to the restorer. The IF cans have capacitors which must be replaced, and the cans have to be removed from the chassis in order to facilitate replacement of said capacitors. NOT for the un-skilled.
I don't want to discourage you from doing this job, but don't want to see another SP-600 turned into a junker either.ChuckN1LNH
