I originally posted this link to the Antiques forum website and although I certainly haven't read them all the PDF quality appears exceptionally good to me.  They make the ARRL QST scans I bought truly look like the garbage that they are.  I wonder if your PDF reader is the issue.  I have tried them with both Foxit and Adobe Pro and they are extremely clean.
