Wes- Although you MAY get results with this set-up, personally, I would not trust it. You didn't mention the brand / quality of your digital radio, but experiences with digital devices in general have shown them to be NOT reliable as to absolute calibration. In other words, just because the display is digital, does NOT mean that what you are seeing is really what you are getting. See if you can beg, borrow, or steal a REAL signal generator. Suggestions would include the General Radio 1001, the Hewlett packard 606 A/B, (both pretty good, but you will need a counter), the HP 8640-B (excellent) or the Boonton 102-F (also excellent). The latter two are phase-locked loop instruments, contain their own counters, and will NOT drift. I assume that you have a manual for your SP-600 that contains the procedure. If not, you will need to find this information somewhere. This is an easy radio to align, but the results will defenitely depend on the quality of your signal gen. Depending on your interest, and future needs, you might purchase one of these generators for your bench. If you plan to mess around with radios- maybe rebuild a few more SP-600s for some friends, a good (real) signal gen will be one of your best investments.ChuckN1LNH

> Very good! Not the easiest radio to rebuild, but not the nightmare of an SX-28 or even an SX-62. This is a very easy receiver to align. You need a decent signal generator, NOT one of those crappy "service oscillators". If you don't have one of the newer "phased locked" generators, make sure you use a frequency counter to monitor the (always) drifting that will happen with "older tech" types. AND- listen to your radio for a couple of days before you do this. Every now and then, tap the thing gently all over with something like a plastic screw driver handle, and listen for pops, clicks, or other strange noises. Invistigate and cure any of those before going on to the alignment process. I have adopted this plan over many years, and always do it this way. Allows time for all those new tubes, capacitors, resistors, not to mention solder joints, to "burn in" and get used to working as a team. These are truely great radios. I have had mine for over 20 years,
