Very good! Not the easiest radio to rebuild, but not the nightmare of an SX-28 or even an SX-62. This is a very easy receiver to align. You need a decent signal generator, NOT one of those crappy "service oscillators". If you don't have one of the newer "phased locked" generators, make sure you use a frequency counter to monitor the (always) drifting that will happen with "older tech" types. AND- listen to your radio for a couple of days before you do this. Every now and then, tap the thing gently all over with something like a plastic screw driver handle, and listen for pops, clicks, or other strange noises. Invistigate and cure any of those before going on to the alignment process. I have adopted this plan over many years, and always do it this way. Allows time for all those new tubes, capacitors, resistors, not to mention solder joints, to "burn in" and get used to working as a team. These are truely great radios. I have had mine for over 20 years, and once it was "commisioned" it has been flawless in its operation.ChuckN1LNH
