Yep, especially when you consider that they're basically a mid-30s design
with a few improvements up to the 200 series. No, they're not the best
radio ever, best at everything, or whatever else. But when you consider
what they can do (especially the variable IF and P-P audio), there's a lot
to enjoy today.
I have at least three BC-779s: one is essentially NOS, one has been MAJORLY

I've got a few sitting in the queue as well, Ken. Including a SP-10 and
-100, along with a 200SX. Also have a couple that came from Dee Almquist a
couple years back, one half-hacked pre-war 200SX with a BEAUTIFUL black
wrinkle panel (has the typical miniature tube modes to the RF section) and
what looks like a WWII 200 model BC-21mc. that needs a meter and good clean
up. Both of those will be going down the road when time permits.
IIRC, Al came across a nice SP-100 which he's working on. Can't wait to
hear how he likes it once it's recapped. I know it'll be safe with him as
he has a fairly extensive collection of nice old rigs and doesn't hack them
up.
