    From the photo of the top of the chassis the mod appears 
to be a pot. Not sure what that could be.  The rear apron 
shows three changes:  Antenna terminals replaced with large 
standoff insulators; Headphone terminals replaced with 1/4" 
jack.  The Amphenol connector is the phonograph input and 
may be original. The phono input is also an output for the 
detector.
    the extra knob and pot is where the crystal filter 
option was put but that has two knobs and replaces the IF 
can behind the panel.
    The main tuning dial card appears to be warped but that 
might be an artifact of the photo.  That is serious if its 
so since the dial card is used to drive the tuning capacitor 
via a pinch-friction wheel behind the tuning controls.
    This is probably a collector's item so price is beyond 
being rational but the asking price does seem unreasonable 
to me if not actually outrageous.
