One thing to keep in mind about the 210, I've got one at home. The IF, I'm pretty sure is 465kHz. You can verify this by checking where the xtal resonates.

Beautiful audio! But mine is LW and SW, no MW.

Something I hadn't thought of till now, on the 129x the two highest bands have the LO above the RF and the lower bands have it below the RF (or the other way round!) Maybe somebody on the list knows if this is the case.

All very informative replies..thanks guys. I think I will get both of them. I haven't seen many of these at the local hamfests in southern Ontario in the last 20 years. I'll initially get them going in stock form and go from there and proceed cautiously.
Interesting on the 25 cycle power supply being available back in the day. Back then, if you were using hydro power from Niagara Falls you were on 25 cycle in Ontario. Conversion to 60 cycle began in the early 50s apparently..ie.before my time.
