Hello All,

Congratulations Joe on getting your rf deck rebuilt! That took courage!

I don't have any idea if any of you have tried using internet video. It occurred to me, while reading Joe's description of what he was trying to do, that it could be really helpful to use internet video to show what's happening. It could be video both ways, or video one way, and audio the other.

I started 6 months ago teaching flamenco guitar playing, and guitar making using the Skype and Logitech Vid services. My wife is doing the same thing with a piano student of hers that moved away. The Logitech Vid service has a really easy to use interface.

It has worked remarkably well. Of course it's not as good as being on the spot, but it comes close. In any case it's a quantum leap better than trying to explain something on the phone or by email. And the services are free.

I use a Logitech eyeball camera with built in mike, which is around $100. The video is full screen, and remarkably good. You need a reasonably fast internet connection, DSL or better for smooth motion, but my wife's piano student has a slow connection, and she makes it work.

I thought you all might be interested.

Cheers,

Brian

P.S. G5RV dipole goes up next week (way up!). I've got to get my license renewed! Now if I could only imagine a flow of holes...
