Hi Carl,
	Have fun with that Alpha.  I wkd on one for a guy a few mo.s ago, 
sounds like same problem, maybe he operated w/o antenna.  Had to buy a 
bandswitch wafer (only) from Alpha, @ ~ $300 IIRC.  The problem was 
confined just to the switch, fortunately.  "Key down 24/7" stuff doesn't 
come cheap.
