Hammarlund made three versions of the SP-200 series
for the military:
BC-779 traded the two lowest frequency bands (540 to 1250khz
and 1250 to 2.5khz) for 100 to 200 khz and 200 to 400khz for
aviation use, and had continuous coverage from 2.5mhz to
20mhz.
BC-794 was the standard version with continuous coverage
from 540khz to 20mhz
BC-2004 was the extended range version with continuous
coverage from 540khz to 40mhz. This receiver also had
shunt-fed RF stages instead of the series fed ones in the
other receivers to improve the selectivity of the RF in
order to reduce image response on the higher bands. Other
circuitry is identical among the three.
Two versions at least of the power supply were
available, a rack mount standard version and another for
mains supplies down to 25hz. The latter is very heavy
because it has a larger transformer and chokes in it.
