I think that the 600 is about as good as you can get, except for mixer noise
and front end noise with extremely extremely weak signals.

I do not know about their solid state receiver that came out just before the
end, but I think it was built on the Wadley- patents that  allowed the local
osc to drift at an opposite rate as the incoming receiver drift so as to
cancel it out.
