" I have a number of questions about the receiver, for instance, if the
panel paint was changed during production, mine looks darker than it does in
the advertising photos and some contemporary photos on the Internet. I think
mine is a late receiver, it has all white lettering. It would be interesting
if anyone had a serial number list, but I suspect that has been lost."
There are 3 different original panels that Im aware of. The earliest has a
red/orange (take your choice) logo, and then there are 2 all white with
slightly different lettering. And there is the currently available
reproduction panel.
Cabinets come in several shades of gray and there was also a short lived
brown one including the bezel. I call it Machinist Brown as it matches the
Kennedy machinist tool chests. One of mine is brown.
The 129 I had in HS in LI, NY was a late 1953 model and had a factory
installed calibrator. I bought it in 56 and it included the bill of sale
from Harrison Radio in NYC, it was listed on their Sale and Swap bulletin
board.
