Basically, you can't tell the difference between an "audio transformer" and a "filament transformer" when used with a "shortwave" receiver. Frequencies above around 8 kHz to 10 kHz may, or may not, start to be "rolled off". But, for "communications quality" (i.e. 300 to 3000 Hz) there just isn't any difference. In fact, as mentioned before, frequencies as high as around 8 kHz to 10 kHz are usually fine.
Using a "filament transformer" in "hi-fi" applications will not, of course, produce the very high frequencies of a symphony orchestra. However, for "voice" quality communications a "filament transformer" is going to work fine.
