Hi group. Six weeks ago I posted about my nearly mint condition HQ110C being submerged under water in a basement flood. I powered it up today and held my breath. It still works, although not like it used to. All bands receive signal from my signal generator, the lights work, and amazingly, the clock works. All controls are sluggish and very noisy. The cal-set knob is frozen and so is the S-meter pot on the back panel. The chassi is covered with dried corrosion-like stuff. The front panel is a mess but looks like a good careful cleaning is all that's needed. So now the fun begins. Since the clock works, I wonder if I should leave it alone. I will look carefully for corroded solder joints. I'm hoping to not have to replace any parts, but I will determine that after a complete alignment. Alignment will require freeing up some coil slugs that are frozen. I could use some advice on this point. Also, I've never used Deoxit, but I will on this job. Can I use the twin-pack Deoxit sold locally at Radioshack or order something else from MCM or Mouser? This will be a lot of work, but the fact that the radio works at all is quite a testament to Hammarlund engineering. I'll try to get some photos up this weekend. Thanks all, Mike.
