[Hammarlund] Recapping an SP-600 JX-6

I'm all set to begin to recap the JX-6 I bought last week (when my caps arrive) and will be following the directions of the article Ray Visek W2EC from The hammarlund Historian wrote, he mentions using 3 Mylar film caps for coupling along with ceramic discs for the rest. The ceramic caps I bought are 1600V. Are the mylar film caps necessary for bypass caps or can I use the ceramics or is there another type that would work?
I had the radio on for several hours and all bands worked fairly well although the RF control would not shut off the audio when it was on 0 although the SS meter went down to 0. The SS meter only went to +6, a little less than half way on strong local signals. The dial was right on everywhere though. I have done no further checking as of yet. I really don't want to turn it on again as it is full of Black Beauties and some are cracked.
