Bob -

Check that you have proper negative voltages from the negative PS and AGC. I 
have seen a lot of bad 10uF bathtub caps (3 along the back panel) that are 
part of the negative supply ---> AGC that can drag down the negative voltage 
and will cause this problem.

You can remove the bathtub guts with a plumber's iron in a very 
well-ventilated area and stuff with new electrolytics to keep the nice 
originality you already have.

Doesn't the RF control click down to turn off the power? At least that is
what I see in the schematic and how my 600's behave.


If you were referring to my above post, yes it does. When I said the volume 
doesn't shut off when it is on 0 I meant with the radio still on before it 
is clicked off, they stop all RF usually below 4 or 5 depending on the 
signal strength. I meant there is something wrong in that part of the 
circuitry. My RF control is not working correctly.
