Hi Bob,

I'll defer to the advice of true experts like W8UT, but my suggestion is 
to instead get a pair of "flush oblique cutters" and snip off the lead 
to the old capacitor close to the connection point and attach the new 
one to it.   No connection with this seller or brand -  but mine looks 
like this:  *http://tinyurl.com/5gpw5n     *This cutter really helps get 
in the tight spots and remove the old components.

*I've decided that even a careful workman can cause inadvertent damage 
while unsoldering delicate connection points (such as on switches and 
coils).   I think the SP-600 RF deck especially warrants this  approach.

To connect the new caps, Al Klase offers an elegant solution for a tool 
you can make that mimics the old Sprague "quig" -

I often just go with a pair of interlocked loops or hooks for mechanical 
support, followed by soldering of course.   The appearance may not be 
pleasing to some, but it's almost guaranteed to cause no harm.
