SCAM ALERT !
This is one of the oldest scams to hit ham radio...
The 'check' will eventually be returned to your bank as bogus - not just
overdrawn, but a bogus document. ( this can take many weeks from some places
in the world). Think of this as one of those 'Nigerian' scams.
ARRL has had a note in their equipment for sale ads for years about this
scam.
By that time the 'buyer' will be long gone, you will be out the radio, the
shipping costs, AND whatever you sent him. Your bank WILL come
after you (legally, and sometimes with criminal charges) for you to make
good !
The question you should be asking yourself is why is the 'buyer' willing to
pay all this money.. just for the 'convenience of you cashing his check ?
====
Stay safe.. run away from this deal.
