[Hammarlund] HQ 129X

I just finished recapping another HQ-129X yesterday. Its 25 paper caps
and 4 electrolytics plus 8 resistors that were well out of tolerance.
Something expected for a radio that sat unused for over 25 years.
The manual is tiny and offers no under chassis views, get a copy of the
SAMS folder to make life easier.
Today was busy so didnt get much done except clean the bandswitch
contacts and the tuning gang ground wipers. That got rid of all the
intermittents and frequency warble. All tubes checked at the high end so
its into the alignment tomorrow, however reception is excellent as-is.
The 129X and I go back to 1957 which served me into 1963. Ive had a few
others over the recent years and its still a fun radio to use. Its also
one of the best BCB radios ever made with superb dial calibration and
the 3 IF stages to dig out a weak one right next to a flamethrower.
NOW, if someone would suggest the proper paint color for the cabinet I
can get that started also.
