Your fixing up an R-390A AND an SP-600! I envy you, Joe.

As for cleaning the wheel, beware that this is a friction contact. The
best stuff to use is that dry cleaning fluid, but that is tough to get
nowadays (I have a deep cover source in the Dry-cleaning place down the
block :). Alcohol is a poor second. Beware Isopropyl or denatured
alcohol and wood alcohol. The stuff not only will make you blind, but
the denaturing agent is a lubricant! (wouldn't know it by reading the
chemical write-up on it) Had some Rocket Surgeon use it on the roller
pucks of all the High Speed Tape Recorders, causing massive wow and
flutter as the pucks skipped on the spindle. Had to replace them all as
the denaturing compound soaked into the rubber pucks. Bad Words. Life
Lesson #233: Learn a Second Language. Multilingual Cursing helps purge
the soul.

Some people are like a Slinky .. not really good for anything,
but you still can’t help but smile when you shove them down the stairs.
