Bob Heil makes a kit for the installation of one of his dynamic elements
in a D-104. It is called an HC-104 and is $59.

This is a lot more $ than a crystal element, but makes a defunct D-104
into a great, but low Z, dynamic mic. To use it with boat anchor gear,
you will need to get his XT-1 transformer or build a simple preamp.

I have been using an Heil HC-5 element in an old Astatic 10 DA case with
G-stand as my main mic for years and it has worked great! I prefer it to
most of the newer designs.
