Hi All,

Last Sunday, February 11th., my HF amplifier, an Alpha 87a, failed during
its self test mode as I prepared to do the HHI 20 meter Net. It will be
three weeks minimum before it "may" be operational. Between now and then I
do not have any amplifier to do the twenty and forty meter Nets with.

I did 'NOT' want to mention this publically now, but my back is against the
wall. I do not want your pity, sympathy or the like, but I do need your help
from one Ham to another. The colon cancer has spread and it is terminal.
Enough said.

I would like to lease a HF amplifier from one of you for
about three, maybe four, weeks. I need about 500 watts and operational
capability for 7.280 and 14.293 MHz lsb/usb. It will be driven by the
original Icom 756 transceiver, the one I have always used on Sunday since I
took over as NCS in March 1999.

I do have a talking SWR/PWR meter. It gives me both forward and reflected
power.

I have three antenna systems:
1. Mosley TA-33 at 55 feet with Ham iii rotor
2. Hustler 4BTV ground mounted vertical with radials for 20 meters spaced 45
degrees apart
3. IAC 20 meter monoband Double Bazooka with East/West orientation

I am willing to provide a security deposit and pay a
reasonable weekly rental fee.

Because of my health, and a desire to reduce the eventual "sales burdens" on
my family, I have already sold all but the minimal equipment I need to
continue doing the Saturday and Sunday HHI Nets. Because of this, the only
item that is backed up is the transmitter and Hallicrafters SX-117 receiver.

The current band conditions make NCS duties extremely
difficult at best. But without the extra kick in the radio
waves rump from a HF amplifier ... What was difficult
becomes nearly impossible. I need your help gentlemen.

If any of you are willing to help me out, please contact me

degrading and otherwise hateful comments, please send them direct to me!
