Great info on the chokes Rod.

I would still suspect those PS filter caps. Maybe try substituting others 
just tacked on from your junkbox just to eliminate them as culprits. 
Capacitance meters are OK for small stuff but I like to use an ESR meter and 
also a megger to really test electrolytic caps. How much AC ripple are you 
seeing on the B+ out of the last filter choke?

73 and good luck with it. Be sure to let the list know your results. Too 
cold in the garage here in PA to play Mr. Fixit so have to hang on other's 
adventures. I have an SP-600 panel and bezels off to paint.
