Well ah,
Probably be better, per some of the other, rigs this has been done to.
The regular plug for the 129 on both of mine were original two prong type
when I got the units. I always check the plug and then go from the chassis
to other chassis in the system, in my case a BC-610(I) and a BC-610(E).
WHat I found was there was hum on the speech amp to the "Big rigs", so A
quick trip to Home Depot brought back two two prong polarized plugs. The
a simple VOM check for the difference in voltage between chassis and swapped
the wires on the polarized plug hum gone! Some folks say to use the three
wire
plugs for safety, I haven't had any problems with my units after the
polarized plugs
were installed, and I use the two wire AC cord as in the original schematic.
As always YMMV!

Subject: [Hammarlund] HQ-129
Hello everyone,
I am restoring a HQ-129 and have simple question. Will replacing the 2
conductor power cord with a 3 conductor and attaching the ground wire to the
chassis cause any problems? Thanks for the help.
