[Hammarlund] HQ-170 shipping

I have recently sold my HQ-170. The purchaser is in Alaska and will be  
picking it up to put on the plane back home after a trip. His stipulation was  the 
total weight was to be less than 50 lbs so it can go as luggage.
 
Are there any suggestions as to an effective means of packing a radio in  
very good condition?
