I realize this is the Hammarlund list but I have a question about an SX-28A
I just bought, I brought it up on a variac (was told it ran fine, I just did
it as I didn't know how long ago fine was) and it did run fine, but I had an
unfortunate problem with it. I shut it off to move it and when I did I ran a
ground to the ground lug which was also hooked to A2 with the LW hooked to
A1 the way most receivers are run with single LW's. I plugged it in and the
second I turned it on it blew the fuse (damn slo blo which I never use) and
also took out the primary on the power transformer I think. It blew like it
was a dead short. The manual isn't clear to me whether it's OK to run the
ground with A2 also hooked to it. Is there also a Hallicrafters list?
E-mail off-list is fine.
