A friend who lives close by made this comparison yesterday, during the
daylight and evening hours. He was using a multicoupler connected to his
antenna and a John R. Leary re-engineered SP-600 he had purchased from me
last year and his recently purchased Icom 756 Pro II.

He could not find a single case where the Icom could hear a signal that the
Hammarlund couldn't and vice versa. He commented that on many of the very
weak signals, the Hammarlund's audio was much more intelligible than the
Icom.

He is a very technically astute person and was amazed at the comparison. The
frequencies varied from 21.5-21.6 mhz (mc for the SP-600) and 9.0- 9.9 mhz.

Remember, this particular test was conducted in am only, even though this
particular SP-600 has a product detector built in.

Hollow State receivers are still competetive after 50+ years.
