Congratulations on the HQ-129-X. It is a fine receiver, especially for
listening to AM. Mine is one my Dad bought new in 1946. The paint is
worn down to the bare metal around the bandspread knob from him tuning
for DX while studying for exams and he made post-war DXCC #20 using it.
A few tubes have been replaced over the years but it's still on all the
original capacitors and works fine. I don't plan on changing anything
that's still working on this receiver. Now if it was one of an unknown
pedigree that had been bashed up from sliding around in the back of a
pick-up between hamfests, it might be a different story. I don't believe
in the necessity of "shot-gunning" all the capacitors but some do. Good
luck with yours.

73,
Dave
