As frequenters of this list know, the SP-600-JX-21A was the final run of the long-lived Hammarlund SP-600 Super Pro, and the only version that had a product detector and selectable sideband. For some insane reason, I have been stricken with a yen for one of these. (I suspect that if I find one it will cost many, many yen.) It's got to be the 21A version, not the 21, which was relatively commonplace. And with a ton of projects staring at me already, I'm not looking for a receiver that needs mechanical work, and preferably not electrical rehabbing, either, although I might consider a recap job.
Since I already have a nice SP-600, although not the one described, if I can't get my hands on a JX21A I'd like an SPC-10, the SSB converter Hammarlund designed for the SP-600. It's pretty much the same as the HC-10 converter marketed as an add-on for Hammarlund's earlier and lower-end BFO-only receivers, like the HQ-140, HQ-110, and so on. It replaces all of the receiver's active stages from the detector output to the audio output.
So...anybody got either of these animals they'd be interested in selling, or know of one that might be up for sale? I'd consider offering as partial payment an HQ-215, Hammarlund's only solid-state comm receiver and now very hard to find. It's in very good or better condition.
Thanks, guys and girls. I know I'm nuts. Don't bother telling me.
