Dave - 

The one that works best is an aviation stripper whose product name
escapes me at the moment. I suspect you could find it easily enough by
checking with a good paint shop that deals in these products. The
original paints used were quite durable for the most part, probably
not intended to be easily removed.

If I come across the product name, I'll send it along. It's pretty
nasty stuff, so take good care if you do use it. Take full advantage
of the better weather down your way to strip the panel outside, as
well as cleaning it afterwards.
