[Hammarlund] HQ-180 followed me home

Hi

For several years I have been looking for an HQ-180 in good shape. I
always have thought they were a very neat radio. Last weekend a very
nice HQ-180 snuck into the car and seems to have followed me home. It's
one of the ones above the 13xx serial number so it has the factory
installed fine tune knob on it. On plug in it seems to work ok except
for the usual scratchy volume controls.

So here's the questions -

1) Were there any significant differences within the HQ-180 production
run once they did the fine tune knob?
2) Are there any "magic" parts that should be checked before the radio
is turned on again?

From what I have seen in the past the adjustable coil cores are an
issue on a lot of radios and the HQ-180 seems to have that problem. The
clocks also seem to die, but the clock on my HQ-110 didn't work back in
the 1960's.

	Thanks!
