Hi Hammarlund fans,
A couple of days ago, I advertised an HQ-170AC VHF and matching speaker
for sale. Though I certainly didn't intend to be greedy, I may have
priced the pair a bit too high. After tossing and turning for two
sleepless nights, racked with guilt and angst, I've decided to reduce
the price. My XYL is extremely upset with me about this move and is
threatening to toss me out into the snow (yup, we actually have snow
here in D.C. right now), but, hey! you're my buddies! Besides, nobody
responded to my earlier ad.
So, here -- with newly reduced price -- is the deal:
I have for sale a nice HQ-170AC VHF. I've completely recapped this
receiver (electrolytics and paper items), replaced all out of spec
resistors, "De-Oxited" all switches and tube socket pins, retubed the
set and properly aligned it. This radio (including the clock) works just
as it should. Electrically, it's 100-percent and should outlive us all.
Cosmetically, it's about an 8 (or, for you CCA types, Good to Very
Good"). The front panel is excellent with all lettering intact, no wear
around the knobs and no corrosion. The only flaw is a rub mark where the
"VHF" badge was removed by a previous owner. All knobs are present and
correct. The chassis is clean except for some nooks and crannies. An
hour with a Q-Tip would fix it up.
The outside of the trim ring has been stripped and polished. It looks
very nice, but is not authentic. The case has its original paint but is
scarred in a couple of places. There are no dents, however.
I will repaint the trim ring and cabinet for an extra $25.00, if you
wish, or you can do it yourself for free. I'll even send you a spray can
of the correct refinishing paint from Mike Shelton.
The receiver includes matching S-200 speaker which is in excellent shape
and works perfectly.
Price for the pair including ground shipping within the continental U.S
is $300.00, please ($325 with repaint). Pay Pal is preferred.
Many thanks and 73,
Craig
