[Hammarlund] HQ-100 Clock Knob

Hello All,

In the process of restoring my HQ-100C, I notice that the front panel knob
on the clock has
been pretty well chewed up by the control shaft. A round shaft extends from
under the clock face and tapers to a thin flat-blade at the point of
insertion into the knob. As a result the plastic of the knob has been
greatly enlarged and the "turning ability" of the knob is minimal at best.

My initial reaction is to fill the enlarged area of the knob with epoxy and
sliding it over the flat of the shaft taking care that the blade of the
shaft is oiled (vaseline?) to prevent its bonding to the knob, and thereby
allowing knob removal in the future.

I was wondering if anyone has a spare knob kicking around in the junk box.
Or if anyone has encountered this situation. The epoxy method seems simple
and straightforward but it's the easy ones that have done me in, in the past.

Thanks in advance for any comments and recommendations.

Ollie
