All flavors of vintage gear are welcome - If it doesn't hum, fake one!
Please join us on Sunday November 21st for the Hallicrafters Collectors
International 20 meter Net. So show up with your Thanksgiving day dinner menu in
hand, ready to read it on the air, so the rest of us can make our plans as to
whom we plan to visit that day!
The pre-Net will commence at 12:45 PM EST, (1745 UTC). We do not have anything
strenuous planned for us vintage dudes on Thanksgiving Day, other than crowd
control using a tranquilizer mist hidden in those turkey shaped candles placed
in strategic locations around the house! Won't knock anyone out like being half
asleep and hitting yourself between the eyes with the bathroom door at 3:00 AM
does, just enough to make Aunt Pruney smile constantly and keep saying "Oh dear!
I don't ever remember when the turkey looked like a turkey but tasted like beef
and smells like lemon scented Pledge! Is this iced tea or beer?" Won't have any
effect on the children though, that is what the boring historical TV program on
how Thanksgiving came to be in America is for. It is the only channel they can
get and after minimal exposure they will be out like those cheap three for a
dollar sixty watt light bulbs you bought at the Dollar Store!
The Net proper will start at 1:15 PM EST, (1815 UTC). No need to worry, there
will not be any competitive events that determine who gets what place in the
food chain line! No Run For The Roses, more like a Trot For The Toilet! No need
to worry about dropping those heavy antique gold edged china plates that are
worth a hundred bucks each, they all got smashed last year! This year enjoy the
heavy divided paper plates with the Pilgrim scene the kids at school drew with
their non-toxic crayons!
The frequency will be 14.293 MHZ usb +/- for key clicks, mike splatter and the
sounds of the Spiffy Maid crew I hired to transform my bachelor pad into a
respectable suburban home for the Thanksgiving Day dinner guests. Hey! I'm
totally blind, give me a little break. I thought that fuzzy stuff on the
bathroom walls was that fancy velveteen wallpaper my ex-wife put up before she
hit the road with Jack. I had no idea it was moss! And yes I do wash my windows,
at least on the inside. So what if they had more spots than a Leopard with a
rash! I can't see through them anyhow, but I figured you sighted people could
expend a little energy and look around the spots! Not to worry, those three
ladies in protective hazardous waste suits will have this place shining like an
old Copper penny somebody dipped in that battery acid leaking from the smoke
detector in no time!
I hope to hear some of you tomorrow; above the roar of the dust bunny buster,
the whine of the power washer as it removes an inch of soap scum from the shower
wall ceramic tile and the Hoover on 220 VAC as it sucks the nails out of the
flooring and pulls them right up and through the living room carpeting! So show
up with your favorite vintage rig to split the ionosphere atoms asunder with and
bring along your family's time tested recipe for pumpkin and apple pie by
somebody other than Granny Smith! This could be fun, hear ya then!
Oh yes, I will be on the air at about 12:20 PM EST, (1720 UTC) doing festive Tom
turkey gobbler and scalped Pilgrim ice carvings with my McCulloch chain saw, so
shout those call letters loud dude!
