[Hammarlund] Newbie HQ-180A Owner Needs Help!

Hi,

A few ideas:

1) Outside is better than inside the house for antennas.

2) Longer (bigger) is better.

3) Higher (up in the air) is better.

Simply put a 300 foot chunk of wire up about thirty feet makes a good 
antenna no matter how you feed it. Five feet of wire out the back of 
the radio works, but not as well.

Unless you have a lot of computer noise in the immediate vicinity I 
would tick with wire into the radio rather than coax.

Wire antennas are cheap. Try a couple and see what works ...
