I just acquired a HQ-180A at a thrift store that is in excellent condition.
I originally purchased it to
use as a case for a retro-look mod computer. Don't worry, once I did a
little research on what I had found, it
will be staying a receiver. My problem is that I am totally new to this. I
have ordered a copy of the huge manual
(80 pages I think) and want to get it working again. It looks like it is all
there including a working clock and
the extra purple knob noise limiter option. My main question is with antenna
choice. What would be the best (read that as easiest and
most economical) antenna I could set up for this rig that might allow me to
hear something?
What is the best antenna hookup method to use (Coax or the A A G screws)?
Any recommendations on restoration/refurbishing books? Any advice for what
to start on in the refurbishing/cleaning process?
Thanks for any advice anyone can provide!
