[Hammarlund] Collins or Hammarlund?

Craig...

(51S3?) I've had a 51S1. Nice receiver, but IMHO doesn't sound as good as
either the R390(A) or SP600, and is also not a band cruiser (due to the 1MHz
band select, plus rather low gearing of the VFO). At current prices you
could probably take the money you'd pay for a 51S1 and be able to buy both
the R390(A) and SP600, to the delight of you and your XYL.

The R388 is also a good alternative to both.

Good luck, it has been interesting reading the replies to your inquiry.
