As always, all flavors and scents of vintage gear are welcome - (if it isn't
vacuum, HUM and fake it!)
Forget the UHF, UHF and away! You are neither Superman or Super Girl. Hang up
that cape, peel off those tights and stop being afraid of those things that glow
green. Take a break from VHF'in it and join us on Sunday June 13th for the HCI
20 meter Net. There may not be any super hero's, but there will be a super time
with some super vintage Hallicrafters and other vintage rigs of like ancestry.
The pre-Net will commence at about 12:45 PM EDT, (1645 UTC). I will be on the
air loosening up the electrons with someAC type calisthenics about 12:20 PM EDT,
(1620 UTC) if any of you would care to drift by and stretch those cables with
us.
The Net proper will start at 1:15 PM EDT, (1715 UTC). If any of you made contact
with any of the four Iowa class battleships last Sunday, or served on them
during WW2 or Korea or later, please join us and tell us about your experiences.
Radio or otherwise.
The frequency will be 14.293 MHZ usb +/- for key clicks, mike splatter and a
recorded rendition of loose tappets playing Taps for my dying riding lawnmower.
I am not sure it has given up the ghost, but the carburetor is refusing to take
nourishment and spitting out the gas and the piston rod is knocking worse than
the knees on a teenage boy trying to get up the courage to ask a girl to the
eighth grade school dance! My son-in-law, a master mechanic, is going to lay
hands on the engine tomorrow and either heal it or perform an autopsy and
dissect it for parts. He does not do surgery with a scalpel, rather a sixteen
pound sledge hammer! So if that old Briggs and stratton has any sense left in
its magneto, it will break those old warped valves loose and hack out some
carbon and rotate that crankshaft! So if you hear what sounds for all the world
like somebody pouring metal nails in a blender, it will be the old riding mower
brushing the teeth it has left in the transmission gearbox with some graphite
flavored lubricant and charging off on a mission to slay the Dandelion dragons.
I hope to hear you tomorrow. Where the heck is KF0AM anyhow?
