Hi Bob,
    I don't knew if I'd call them "peculiar," but maybe "less common"
(probably not @@RARE@@).  I've worked on one a yr or so ago, you can see

    Les Locklear mentions the Northern modification in his SP-600 history
section on The Hammarlund Historian website:

    I have not seen, or heard of, any documentation on the Northern mods.
I think Les has had at least one of them, maybe he has more info.
