Congratulations on getting a very fine radio.

For manuals, please see my web page on the SP-600 at:
http://www.jamminpower.com/main/sp600.jsp

I believe Issue-3 covers this receiver, but the Air Force manuals will also
be relevant, as will be the big one, TM11-851.

I apologise for the download time of all of these, but I insist on scanning
them at a high level of quality to make sure the halftone images come
through o.k.

First thing to check: Does the radio still have the BBODs? ("Black Beauties
of Death") These are tubular paper capacitors that were used for bypass all
through this receiver. If it does, DO NOT POWER THE RADIO UP until you check
C163 to make sure it has not shorted to ground. That will also check C23 as
well. These two are directly across the B+ power supply. If either one of
them is shorted out, it will immediately burn out one or more of the filter
chokes when powered up.

I don't believe this receiver has a C167, but if it does, that should be
checked as well - it is directly across the 150 V regulated supply.

In general, all of the BBODs will have to be replaced. Ideally, someone has
already done this for you. If not, you have a job ahead of you. It is a fun
job, but a big job as well.

If you decide to replace the BBODs, Chuck Rippel's videos on this are very
helpful. They can be ordered from Hi-Res communications at:
http://home.att.net/~hi-res/

There is also a great deal of information about Hammarlunds, including the
SP-600, at the Hammarlund Historian web site at:
http://www.hammarlund.info/

Hope this helps.
