Hi, it is me again;

Re inserting the signal for alignment; All you have to do is get the IF
frequency into the mixer grid. I have used various ways which all worked.
Clip onto the stator of the tuning cap for the mixer. This will get the
signal into the mixer grid. If the mixer has a shield, lift the shield
above ground and clip onto the shield. pull the tube and wrap a fine wire
around the grid pin, or insert it in the socket and plug the tube back
in. Connect the sig gen to this wire. It is not necessary to insert it
exactly where they say. Good luck.
