[Hammarlund] HQ 140 X arrives!

Well while waiting for my HQ 129 to arrive (still waiting) I found a DOA
HQ 140 X on E-bay with a pretty clean looking exterior so I put in a low =
bid on it and won it.  It came today and is a noble looking beast =
indeed....and was DOA. tubes didn't light up....lights didn't come =
on....I checked the output of the power transformer and was getting =
plenty of juice so I tried replacing the 5U4. Nope...replaced the =
voltage regulator and presto!! lights! tube glow! hideous hum! the one =
tube I don't have a replacement for....(of course)..the 12AU7 audio =
preamp and BFO tube
was bad...plus there was a broken off pin from an old tube stuck in the =
socket. Put in a 12AY7 and got signals galore. Need to get the right =
tube because the 12AY7 has too much gain and overloads the CW signals.
AM sounds gorgeus though.  The under chassis looks very clean and very =
few paper caps. Most resistors I've checked so far are correct.  Now my =
question is this: I'd like to get in the RF compartment but this looks =
like a possibly very tricky proposition...does anybody know how to do =
this? also are there any particular caps or resistors I should check =
other than the electrolytics and paper ones? Thanks.
