[Hammarlund] alignment HQ-170

I'm not certain but I believe the problem is inside T2 which is a combo 455
and 3035 IF transformer.

When I run the slug up against the top of the metal can the signal levels
jump up. This is (I hope) because the mica sandwich at the base of the can
is under more compression.

I have the can apart now on the bench. The windings are intact and I am now
trying to calculate the value of a replacement external capacitor to replace
the mica compresssion caps sandwiched in the base of the assembly. I've
removed the mica sheets so there is no turning back now.

A grid dip meter or my MFJ-259 used as a grid dip meter come to mind for
determining the value of the external cap needed. Of course if someone
already knows this value???

Please wish me a steady hand!

There's more to do.
