[Hammarlund] Need More Help on the SP-600

I just thought of another, related possibility.

Often there are deep grooves worn into the sides of the contact pins.
Usually, this just results in some roughness or noise when changing
bands. Ideally it shouldn't be, but the stationary contacts grab the
pins like pincers because they're often not shaped perfectly whereby the
pins would contact the flat of the contacts rather than the edges.

Turn the receiver over and remove the bottom turret cover. Check the
pins for the affected band carefully. In addition to loose or bent ones,
see if they're badly scarred/grooved -- particularly in comparison with
the others. It may be bad enough on one or more of those band modules
that it doesn't make full contact when the turret is centered in the
detent position for that band. (and does make somewhat better contact
when you twist the bandchange knob a bit.)

The fix is to replace the pin, or, loosen it (fastened with a nut) and
turn it 1/4 turn to use the unworn surfaces. Be careful with the ceramic
modules. If bent, don't try to straighten the pin in such a way that you
might break the ceramic. If you're going to turn a pin 90 degrees,
observe the wiring so you turn in the direction least likely to snap it.

Well, it's a possibility.
