Further reading says you got this out Cecil, so congrats. They sure can be miserable to deal with. Another method I've used with reasonably good success involves using one of those small jeweler's type screwdrivers and driving it into the screw at two 'high spots' or whatever you'd call the points of the hex. I use the type of driver with a small hole through the shaft for using a lever and 9
times out of 10 this breaks it free.
I like the idea mentioned by Hank and Barry of using an old wrench and some JB Weld or epoxy. Not sure why I never though of something so apparently apparent, but I'm sure glad it was mentioned. Another tool in the inventory!
