Hello everyone,

I would like to add a section to my website for Ham Radio

or SWLing stories.

By that I mean if you have an experience that you

would like to share or feel that others could benefit from

please send it to me in an Email.

I am especially interested in stories about how you got started

in Ham Radio. Who helped you? What kind of equipment

did you have? Who, What, Where, When, How was your first

contact made. What equipment did you start with? Upgrade to?

I would really like stories about Christmas, getting a radio or

some other piece of equipment for Christmas. How about that

antenna you strung up at Christmas while you where out of school

for the holidays, we all know they work a lot better if its really

cold and miserable when the antenna goes up. And all the better

if its actually snowing or sleeting. Or a contact around the Holidays

that really sticks in your mind.

Did anyone else besides me stay up late into the night, long after

bedtime, with the headphones on so as not to wake your parents.

If you have pictures thats great, send those to. If you need

them scanned well get that worked out.

I would like to capture some of the magic of making a contact,

building an antenna, or listening to shortwave late into the night..

Today things have a way of getting pretty sterile and impersonal.

I would like to present, and preserve, not only some of the history,

but some of the emotions and the magic that go along with this great

hobby, this great life. I think Ham Radio or SWLing really is a lifestyle.

After all, who else still believes in Magic!

Thanks for your time, I hope to hear from a lot of you.

Regards,

Jeff Draughn, N0OST
