A couple of weeks ago, I posted the problem I am having with the BFO in my
SP 600. One of the reflector members suggested that I use a signal generator
to inject an oscillator signal into the external BFO input connector. I
switched to external BFO and fed a signal into the external BFO connector
and there was a beat frequency against which to beat incoming CW signals and
SSB signals. With the external beat signal, I am able to tune and copy SSB
signals and CW signals.

I guess this tells me that the circuits OTHER THAN THE INTERNAL BFO are
working properly and tells me that the BFO isn't oscilating or that the
internal BFO signal is not making it to the detector. I guess that the
internal BFO frequency should be about 455 KC. and maybe I should be able
to measure it with my freq counter? The frequency I am injecting is 455 KC.
and it is beating fine with the incoming SSB and CW signals. Of course, the
signal generator isn't stable enough to substitute for the BFO, except for
test purposes.

Any more helpful suggestions out there that will help me isolate the problem
with my INTERNAL BFO???? Thanks for all help and suggestions. 73, John,
